When the Nintendo Wii video game console hit the market in late 2006, it revolutionized gaming. It didn’t try to compete head to head with the other top video game consoles. Instead, the Wii focused on ease of use and the fun side of gaming. So what’s the appeal?

Well, first off it’s priced affordably as compared to the other two top gaming consoles. New games are also priced reasonably.

It doesn’t matter whether you are an experienced gamer or someone who has never played a video game. The Nintendo Wii uses a motion-sensing controller to play Wii games. Whether it’s swinging a tennis racket in “Wii Sports”, steering trucks in “Excite Trucks” or slashing with a sword in “The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess”, there is something to appeal to almost anyone.

With the Wii, you can play the full line-up of your favorite Nintendo games from the past. It is backward compatible with GameCube and also features Nintendo’s Virtual Console. With Virtual Console you can download games from older generation systems at a reasonable price.

Business Is Good For Online Video Games And Virtual Worlds

Executive summary about Nintendo Wii Video by Michael Connelly.

With the recent increase in popularity of online video games and virtual worlds there has been a whole new cottage industry created that sells virtual items and services to gamers who spend a lot of time and money in Cyberspace.

They are called Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, or MMORPGs and they are a genre of online video games that over 15 million people worldwide are now playing. In the world of interactive video games and virtual worlds it is not uncommon for a player to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on items that enhance their playing experience or build their status. A whole new economy has been created because of online video games like World of Warcraft, Everquest and Second Life. It is a classic fantasy themed battle game in the tradition of Dungeons and Dragons.

World of Warcraft has a full menu of items you can buy to enhance or improve your online gaming experience. As you achieve higher game levels and player status more products and services become available to enhance your experience.

Second Life is an online virtual world where people can go and live another life inside Cyberspace. Millions of US dollars are spent each month with the transactions that take place inside this virtual world.

Since 2004 the worldwide grosses for the genre of Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games has doubled each year. From 500 million dollars in 2005 to 1 billion dollars in 2006 this industry is expected to continue thriving and gross well over 2 billion dollars in 2007. As more and more people around the world look to online video games and virtual worlds for recreation and escapism the future looks brighter every day for those who sell virtual products and services.

nintendo wii video games

Well, there are plenty of those kinds of kids for sure, but they are not the most prevalent number in the demographics of video game players. The Entertainment Software Association, a top demographics and research company did a survey recently and found that adults make up 92 percent of the people who purchase video games these days and 80 percent who purchase video game consoles.

The average age of video game players is now up to 33, and getting higher every year it seems. This recent survey found that 67 percent of the Heads of Households play video games as a form of recreation, according to the Entertainment Software Association, or ESA. The average age of the most frequent video game buyers is 38 years old.

Every news story showed footage of die-hard Halo 3 fans waiting in line for the release of this latest Halo video game. Most of these fans were adults who have followed the Halo video game franchise for many years. There are a lot of parents playing video games these days. The parents of today recognize the value of playing video games.

The grown ups of today are the first generation to be raised on video games. Corporations like Microsoft spend millions of dollars to create games like Halo 3 which offer an experience that is much more than a game. First person shooter video games like Halo 3 and Far Cry by Ubisoft put the players in the game and provide them with choices that determine the outcome. Video game developers have known for years that adults are their main customers. More and more middle aged adults are playing video games these days. Back in 1999 only 9 percent of people over the age of 50 played video games. The video game industry generates 80 billion dollars worldwide annually. Most of that money is made from the sales of video games and Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii video game consoles that are purchased by adults for themselves

Nintendo Wii Video Game System

Executive summary about Wii video games by Chad Creel

The Nintendo Wii is one of the most popular video game systems on the market and also one of the most affordable as well. The Wii also has a game called the Wii fit that you can purchase, that has a workout pad to get you in shape while enjoying the fun of a video game. Some of the other features that the Wii boasts is a 512 MBs of internal flash memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and a slot for SD memory expansion. The system’s technological heart, a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named “Broadway” and a graphics chipset from ATI code-named “Hollywood” — deliver stunning performance. And instead of a tray, Wii uses a single, self-loading media bay that plays both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system, as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. These features have helped Nintendo and the Wii stay popular and will make them a leader in the video game industry for a long long time.
